Purpose and Functions

Recruitment and Retention provides support and information to all prospective applicants and District employees. We are responsible for personnel transactions for all 23,000 District employees and applicants.  In addition, Recruitment and Retention:

  • Is the customer service point of contact to support principals and other supervisors with talent management, including screening, selection, on-boarding, transfers, placements, separations, performance management, data collection and reporting, and other HR functions and effectiveness measures for all school and department staff.
  • Is responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing and hiring highly qualified personnel, processing employee transfers, and placing excess personnel in vacancies.
  • Coordinates job fairs, training, New Employee Orientation, personnel workshops, and substitute training.
  • Oversees the recruitment and hiring of all administrators and non-instructional employees.
  • Supports and monitors certified employee licenses, out-of-field, and out-of-compliance educators.
  • Is responsible for the Substitute Office, the New Employee Orientation Program, the Florida Future Educator of America (FFEA) Scholarship program, the Florida Teacher of the Year Program, the Florida School-Related Employee of the Year Program, and assists with the retirement celebration and student teacher information sessions/receptions.
  • Is responsible for background security clearance procedures for the District VPK and Extended Learning Programs to ensure compliance.
