
Security Initiative
Investment of approximately $20 million per year for School Police
- Added approximately 110 officers (school resource officers, detectives, K9, trainers, and sergeants), support staff, computer hardware, software, vehicles, equipment and supplies
- Funded 50 School Police Aides to extend coverage
- Secondary - Continue to fund 55 School Security Monitors
- Secondary - Continue to fund additional overtime and services at high school football games
- Secondary - Increased security allocations for various school events
- MS from $1,000 to $10,000 per school
- HS from $6,000 to $20,000 per school
- Combined with regularly budgeted and referendum funds for School Police, the District will spend over $60 million for school policing during the 2019-2020 school year
Mental Health Initiative
Investment of approximately $20 million
- All levels - 1 Mental Health position per school
- MS - minimum of 3 School Counselors per middle school
- Secondary - 5 Extra Duty Days - School Counselor (regular and ESOL) to provide support prior to the start of school
- School Psychologists - add 40 additional School Psychologists, 16 Extra Duty Days to provide support over the summer, additional supplies and equipment
- Expanded Mental Health Contracted Services. The District currently has 34 Behavioral Health Agreements.
